JOHN LAWRENCE MAERZ B.A. L.M.T.

John is a philosopher, teacher, artist, musician, massage therapist and self taught astrologer who has been involved in esoteric study since 1966. He is the owner and co-founder of the Astrological Institute of Integrated Studies, Inc. (AIIS) in Clearwater, Florida which edits and publishes CDs, tapes and books on esoteric studies. He is, also, a former owner and co-founder of Starchild Books in Port Charlotte, Florida. The Astrological Institute was where John Edward received training in Psychic Development, Tarot and Numerology from John Maerz and his former business partner, Sandy Anastasi, in the mid eighties which was, then, in Bayshore, NY. Starchild Books is among the first places that John Edward held "gallery" sessions before the release of his first book "One Last Time" and  the airing of "Crossing Over" on the Sci-Fi network.

John’s four year degree in Psychology and Education from C.W. Post college in New York paved the way for offering life insights and career counseling through his private sessions and in his newsletter, “The Rising Star.” In 1979, he experienced a pivotal point in growth through his participation in the Life Spring educational forum bringing an unparalleled accountability factor into administering his guidance.

As a teacher John's experience extends to metaphysical areas as well. He began teaching himself astrology in 1966. Astrology then led to Numerology, I-Ching, Tarot, Kabbala, Tai Chi and Chi Kung. He has come to understand that all the seemingly different disciplines are no more than separate languages for the same principles with many crossovers in their symbolism. As a result of having had the honor to sponsor John Edward at Starchild in the late nineties he was inspired to help construct a curriculum for the developing of Spirit Communication abilities in the students who passed through AIIS and Starchild. John M is, also, an effective medium and occasionally conducts gallery style “messages” sessions himself. Currently, he team teaches Spirit Communication seminars in Port Charlotte.

As an advisor John is a professional coach and has a diverse background in the human potentials field incorporating personality influences, shadow work, nutritional needs, creative expression and personal desires while uncovering innate abilities and hidden potentials for his clients. He is dedicated toward raising awareness and shares his own unique understandings and perspectives about life’s journey and meaning. He, also, recognizes the need for balance and accountability on our mental, physical and emotional levels as well as fulfilling our spiritual potential through individual experience.

As a holistic healer John primarily focuses on moving energy throughout his patient's body to release blockages. He specializes in Shiatsu, Cranial Sacral work, energy work, including Reiki, and is well versed in diet and nutrition as well. He's been a vegetarian for over 30 years and is a student of Eastern Medicine and Herbology. As a Reiki Master Healer, John periodically offers classes teaching Reiki.

Prior to opening the Astrological Institute of Integrated Studies (1983) and Starchild New Age Books & Gifts (1995), John's life and career were diverse. He's worked on an aircraft carrier flight deck (four years), in retail hardware (thirteen years), electronics (six years), youth counseling (two years) and in other New Age stores (fifteen years). He has been on both radio and TV in New York and Florida and is proud to have been one of the teachers involved in John Edward's meteoric rise to fame. John currently lives in Palm Harbor, Florida with his life companion Barbara, Max and Mickey, two Pekingese dogs, and Squinty the cat.

SANDY ANASTASI B.S.

is the owner of Starchild Books in Port Charlotte, Florida. She is a Gemini and has been a professional psychic and teacher of metaphysical studies since 1979. In 1983 she founded the Astrological Institute of Integrated Studies John Maerz now located in Clearwater, Florida. She and John have trained hundreds of students who have gone on to become successful psychic readers and teachers in their own right. Most notable among these is the famous host of TV’s 'Crossing Over', John Edward.

As a psychic Sandy blends her ability to channel your and her guides with gifts of empathy and clairvoyance when she reads the tarot cards or does astrology. She has a real gift for foretelling the future. In fact, one of her early challenges was "pulling her predictions in" - projections were often so far in the future, clients simply couldn't relate to them at the time. Sandy firmly believes that we create our own futures and finding out where things are probably going helps us to get a better handle on them and even enables us to change things we want to avoid!

Sandy also does special "past life" readings, using the tarot cards and her native psychic skills. Although she is not a Spirit Medium, she can often obtain information about deceased loved ones and sometimes can make contact with them in her readings. She is also a Reiki 'master' and her interest in healing has led her to study herbs and aromatherapy, which she teaches, extensively.

Although she realizes now she was always psychic, Sandy's early background was in technical fields. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Adelphi University with a B.S. and a certificate in Corrective Therapy, then taught school (Biology, Chemistry, Health, & P.E.) and worked as a Safety Engineer for 11 years. Eventually her ability as a psychic blossomed. The residue of that early technical background is obvious to both her students and clients in her common sense approach and her ability to make the complex seem simple.

Sandy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Adelphi University with a B.S. and a certificate in Corrective Therapy, then taught school (Biology, Chemistry, Health, & P.E.) and worked as a Safety Engineer for 11 years. She has appeared on radio and TV and has written many books which she utilizes in her classes. Her most important contribution is "The Anastasi System of Psychic Development” - a series of manuals that accompany the Psychic Development series taught at Starchild. Other books include Basic Astrology, Kabbalistic Pathworking and the Tarot Reader’s Workbook.

     Today, Sandy continues to see clients, lectures, writes and appears on, both, radio and TV periodically. In addition she owns and manages Starchild Books. Her hobbies include playing with her two Pekinese dogs, Sam and Miko and belly dancing. Currently, she lives in Northport, Florida.
